Galaxy S: “Super Smart,” flagship phones, the top of the line. This obviously encompasses the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II.

Galaxy R: “Royal or Refined,” a premium line. The Galaxy R was announced earlier this month in Europe and Asia.

Galaxy W: “Wonder,” a “high-tier” line. The Galaxy W is newly announced today.

Galaxy M: “Magical,” (yes really), the “mid-tier” line. The Galaxy M Pro is new with a QWERTY keyboard.

Galaxy Y: “Young,” an entry level line aimed at the kids. The specs on today’s Galaxy Y and Galaxy Y Pro definitely count as “entry level.”

These are the descriptions of Samsung’s new Galaxy phones. I feel like there is too much of an overlap in this product line for a guy like me, who is royal/refined AND super smart, but still has a sense of wonder.

Needless to say, I don’t think Apple has anything to worry about for the time being.
